Facebook releases new messaging app exclusive for couples

Facebook has launched an application called “Tuned” which allows couples to message each other privately.

The app, which was created by Facebook’s New Product Experimental (NPE) Team, has features that let couples exchange messages, photos, music and voice memos.

Facebook calls this digital scrapbook-styled app as “a private space” where two individuals can communicate more personal even when they are apart.

“With Tuned, you can be as mushy, quirky, and silly as you are together in person,” the NPE Team stated on the App Store.

The developers have not yet responded to media’s request for comment if Tuned has end-to-end encryption of services similar with WhatsApp’s.

But BBC reported that the couples’ app “has the same data policy as Facebook, which allows the company to collect communications and other behavior to target advertising at the user.”

With this data policy, the users will be hesitant to send personal details or private images to their significant others.

Tuned can be downloaded for free on the App Store by iPhone and iPad users in the United States and Canada.
